Description
Description
ASTM A335 P11 Seamless Alloy Steel Pipe

ASTM A335 P11 Pipe (ASME SA335 P11) is Chrome Moly Alloy Seamless Pipe that used for high-temperature services, P11 Grade Pipe Chrome content at 1.00% to 1.50%, Moly content 0.44% to 0.65%, Minimum tensile strength 415MPa, minimum yield strength 205Mpa.

P11 pipe material has high toughness and high wear and tear resistance, it could be used to manufacture pipe fittings like elbow, tee, reducers, and flanges as following standard:

Pipe fittings standard: ASTM A234 WP11

  Flange Standard: ASTM A182 F11

Equivalent Steel Plate Standard: ASTM A387 Grade 11/ ASME SA387 Grade 11

Welded pipe standard: ASTM A691 1-1/4 CR

ASTM A335 specification covers nominal wall and minimum wall thickness pipe that with alloy material and manufactured in seamless type. The pipe under this specification shall be suitable for bending, flanging, and all the other similar processing and formations. Although it shall be good for fusion welding.

  ASTM A335 P11, P22 – Common Use Grade

ASTM A335 P11 and P22 are most common use in Chrome Moly Alloy Pipes for high temperature environment, for power industry and petro-chemical plants.

Chrome Moly Alloy ASTM A335 pipe

ASTM A335 pipe called chrome moly pipe as they have a high level of Chromium and Molybdenum presence in it. While Molybdenum increases the overall strength, resistance, elasticity, hardenability and overall quality, moly ensures that the material is more resistant to softening, restrains the growth of grains and lessens the chances of embrittlement. It is the single additive that is responsible for the increase in high temperature resistance (to 540-750°C) and it also improves the corrosion resistance to steel.

  About ASTM A335 P11 Pipe

  Trade Name: 1 ¼ Chrome

  Grade: P11

  UNS #: K11597

  Pipe: A335/SA335

  Forged/Bored Pipe: A369/SA369

Chromium and molybdenum are important elements of P11. Chromium, or chrome, improves high-temperature strength, increases oxidation resistance and raises the tensile, yield and hardness at room temperatures. Molybdenum increases the strength, elastic limit, resistance to wear, impact qualities and hardenability. It increases the resistance to softening, restrains grain growth and makes chromium steel less susceptible to embrittlement. Moly is also the most effective additive for increasing high temperature creep strength, or creep resistance. It also enhances the corrosion resistance of steel and inhibits pitting.

Mechanical Properties

ASTM A335 P11 Seamless Alloy Steel Pipe Applications Due to the ferrimagnetic characteristics of iron, a few steel alloys in A335 P11 pipes can be used in applications where their reactions to magnetism are important. This includes transformers and electric motors. P11 is also a popular grade for many different applications.
